Dave Here: Let’s Talk About Women in Healthcare. Did you know that until the NIH Revitalization Act of 1993, clinical research was heavily skewed towards men, leaving women’s specific health needs in the dark? As someone who is data driven, that statistic boggled my mind and just doesn’t sit well with me.
The Research Gap:Historically, clinical trials predominantly involved male participants, leading to a lack of data on how diseases and treatments affect women differently. This is like trying to solve a puzzle with half the pieces missing.
For My Wife & Daughters:I want a system where the women in my life have access to the same health data and interventions that I have access to . Where research includes them and treatments are tailored to their unique physiology. A system where their health is valued.
What We Can Do? Advocate for Change: Push for more inclusive research that reflects the diversity and uniqueness of women’s health needs. Accounting for their differences only strengthens the data, and our ability to treat.
Educate Ourselves and Others: Awareness can spark change. Let’s spread the word about the importance of female specific research in healthcare and provide more access for treatments tailored to your unique physiology. It’s 2024, people. Women’s health should not be an afterthought.
Listen and Believe: It’s crucial when women talk about their health issues, they’re not just heard, but also believed. There’s been a trend of second-guessing women’s health concerns, and it’s time for that to change.
Think about it: when men discuss certain health issues like erectile dysfunction, their words are taken at face value. We trust and provide treatment. Let’s extend the same understanding and respect to women’s health experiences and conditions. So, here I am, a son, clinician , husband and father asking healthcare to step up its game. Let’s take care of the ladies who take care of us. In the meantime, until the rest of the industry catches up- we at sparq health have got you! #sparqhealth #hormoneoptimization #hrt #longevity#womenshealth #trt
